PJSC "AZOVSTAL IRON & STEEL WORKS" conducts activity in investments and innovations, consistently increasing the volumes and the efficiency of production, improving the quality of the products, cutting the costs and maintaining the working condition of the existing production equipment.
This activity is supported by the projects intended for higher iron production output, BOF steel production output, quality improvements through the use of ladle-furnace and vacuum degasser and increase of production volumes of continuously cast slabs.
Completed projects
- To improve throughput, to provide conditions for storing, cooling, finishing and shipment of slabs to the customer, the project for revamping of BOF Shop transportation and finishing area is under completion and includes installation of CJSC NKMZ transportation and finishing line, crane equipment: 1 36-ton crane and 2 110-ton cranes manufactured by CJSC Sibtyazh.
- For quality improvement and manufacture of new product types, project "Organization of the laboratory for SSC and HIC testing of steel" has been implemented that will allow SSC and HIC testing of steel for the purpose of entering the new sales markets.
- For maintaining the existing production facilities, project "Replacement of Open Yard №1 coal-bridge" has been implemented. Obsolete and depreciated coal-bridge at Open Yard №1 of Coke-Oven & By-Product Plant was replaced by the modern more efficient equipment.
Research scientific work and intellectual propert
Every year the research scientific works are performed at PUBLIC JOINT STOCK COMPANY “AZOVSTAL IRON AND STEEL WORKS” jointly with scientific research enterprises and organizations of Ukraine and CIS countries. The Company maintains close scientific ties with State Higher Educational Institution “Priazovskiy State Technical University”, Ukrainian State Research and Technical Centre for Technology and Equipment “Energostal”, National Metallurgical Academy of Ukraine, Ukrainian State Coal and Chemistry Research Institute, I.P. Bardin Central Research Institute for Ferrous Metallurgy and with the others.
During the period from 2007 to 2010 the Company carried out 71 scientific research works. The majority of carried out scientific research works aimed at new products creation, improvement of manufactured products quality, decrease of production resource and energy intensity.
At PUBLIC JOINT STOCK COMPANY “AZOVSTAL IRON AND STEEL WORKS” the work on protection of created intellectual property objects is actively developed. In 2007-2010 the Company received 29 Ukrainian patents for invention and utility models which protect different innovation developments of the Company specialists. In 2008 and 2010 the Company received an award of All-Ukrainian contest “Invention of the year” which confirms the high level of patented knowledge. In 2010 the utility models group received special award nominated “For comprehensive approach to metallurgical production waste and environmental protection”.
The results of carried out research scientific work, patented inventions and utility models are used at the Company and allow increasing the efficiency of production process.
