1 November 2012

Shutdown of Coke Battery No. 7 required implementing complex of production and technical activities. On October 25 the last coke output was at Coke Battery No. 7, following which it was disconnected from BFG and COG pipe lines. Shut-off valve was installed at raw gas collector separator and on October 26 Coke Battery No. 7 was completely shutdown. At the moment documents on coke battery equipment retirement are being prepared after which battery dismantling will be started.

Shutdown of Coke Batteries No. 6 and No. 7 will allow reducing emissions of harmful substances into the atmosphere of Mariupol by 20%.

Early decommissioning of Coke Batteries No. 6 and No. 7 became possible owing to successful completion of another commissioning stage at new PCI complex at Ilyich Iron & Steel Works (Metinvest Group). This has made it possible to redistribute Avdiivka coke, non-required due to PCI implementation, between the enterprises of Metinvest Group and dispatch it to "AZOVSTAL IRON & STEEL WORKS" in additional volumes.

Metinvest Group as socially oriented company consistently fulfills its obligations on reduction of man-induced impact on the city environment. Furthermore, Metinvest stops operation of problem CO&BP Plant subdivisions earlier than scheduled date.
